Essential Travel Items
We can’t bear for you to set off on your travels without packing the essential travel items, which is why we’ve put together an essentials travel list, to ensure you embark on your travels with the necessities you may need:
- Decent, hard-wearing backpack with waist support - Go for comfort not fashion – trust us, you will need this!
- Durable walking shoes/boots – To look after your feet during exciting explorations.
- Walking sandals – For warmer weather/beach walking.
- Insect repellent, sun protection and after-sun – The sun is stronger on foreign shores and the insects nastier!
- Aluminium Mug – Whether you are gasping for a cup of tea and the accommodation you are staying in has undesirable kitchenware, or you fancy a late night noodle snack in your tent, an aluminium mug will not break and will come in handy for many culinary uses.
- Light-weight travel sleeping bag – Never rely on accommodation for comfort!
- Travel-sized First Aid Kit – For all your light medical needs.
- Waterproof jacket/top – For every eventuality (believe it or not, it does rain in other places than the UK!)
- Pen and paper – If the camera fails, the good old pen and paper will record your best moments or the contact details of a new friend!
- Emergency toilet roll/tissues – Enough said!
- Travel towel – Conveniently sized and made out of quick-drying material.
- Hand-wash laundry detergent – Available in travel-size. Not all hostels have laundry facilities or you might be ‘roughing it’ and need to use a river to wash your smalls!
- Tent & Camping Equipment – If you think you are going to be camping it, rather than staying in accommodation.
To obtain all of these essential travel items, start-off by visiting your local outdoor specialist, who will be able to offer you further advice.
